Measure Your Balance.
Take Control of Your Life.

Balance Matters is the free balance measurement app from Upright Science — built to put the science of balance in your pocket, with zero friction and no equipment.

Balance Matters is a free mobile app by Upright Science that measures a person's balance using action prompts and the phone's motion sensor. Your balance score is an index rating based on the data of hundreds of thousands of people. The app instructs you to do a 3-pose protocol — each one only takes 10 seconds.

Whether you've recently felt unsteady, want to track your balance over time, or simply want to get ahead of the aging process — Balance Matters gives you the data to understand your balance and take informed action.

Our mission

Balance is the sixth vital sign

Falls are the leading cause of injury for people age 65 and over. What's more, falls lead to more than 20,000 deaths each year nationwide. These stats tell us that falling is an epidemic — and one that can be addressed when balance is measured consistently, just like the other vital signs. Balance Matters gives everyone the ability to track their own balance over time and understand what drives it.
